About Our Text Messaging Service
PCOE uses Microsoft Teams to send and receive text messages. This service is used for conversational, person-to-person communication between PCOE teachers and staff and the parents and guardians of students enrolled in PCOE schools and programs. Messages relate to the student’s education, such as classroom activities, assignments and progress, attendance, schedules, school events, and other school-related matters.
PCOE does not use this service to send marketing or promotional messages. By opting in to or using our text messaging service, you agree to these Text Messaging Terms of Use and to the Website Privacy Policy above.
Definitions
"Opting In," "Opt In," and "Opt-In" mean requesting, agreeing to, enrolling in, responding to, or otherwise consenting to receive one or more text messages from PCOE.
"Text Message Service" means any arrangement in which PCOE sends one or more messages to your mobile phone number, including SMS, MMS, or successor technologies.
How You Opt In
Parents and guardians consent to receive text messages by completing the PCOE Parent/Guardian Text Messaging Consent Form, available online at https://lfforms.placercoe.org/Forms/smsconsent and from their student’s teacher or program office. On the form, the parent or guardian provides their mobile phone number, lists their student(s), and checks a box agreeing to receive text messages from PCOE teachers and staff. One form covers all of a parent or guardian’s students; each parent or guardian who wishes to receive text messages completes their own form for their own mobile number. If a parent or guardian sends a text message to a PCOE staff member first, they consent to receive replies in that conversation. Otherwise, PCOE staff will not send text messages to a parent or guardian until this consent has been received. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving any PCOE service.
E-Sign Disclosure
By agreeing to receive text messages, you consent to the use of an electronic record to document your agreement. You may withdraw this consent at any time by replying STOP.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies. Because this is a conversational service between you and PCOE staff, the number of messages you receive depends on your communication with us. We may send an initial message providing details about the service. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Message and Data Rates
PCOE does not charge you for text messages. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
How to Opt Out
You can cancel text messages at any time. Reply STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE to any message. Because this is a person-to-person service, opt-out requests apply to the specific conversation and PCOE phone number you reply to. After you opt out, you may receive one final message confirming your request. To opt in again, reply START or contact the PCOE staff member you were communicating with.
How to Get Help
Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us.
Text Messaging Privacy
We respect your privacy. We use information you provide through our text messaging service only to send and receive messages and to respond to you. This may include sharing information with platform providers (such as Microsoft), phone carriers, and other vendors who help deliver messages.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
PCOE may disclose information when required by law, regulation, or government request, including the California Public Records Act, or to protect the safety of students, staff, or the public.
